Upcoming Events

Rosh HaShanah Seder, A Sephardic Tradition

A person should always be accustomed to seeing these on Rosh HaShanah: Squash, and fenugreek, leeks, and chard, and dates, as each of these grows quickly and serves as a positive omen for one’s actions during the coming year.”

This passage from Talmud discusses the actions one should carry out during the Rosh HaShana seder. Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews celebrate the Jewish new year by rejoicing in a Rosh HaShana hseder before their festive meal tasting foods that represent good omens for the coming year that go beyond apples and honey.

Join Rabbi Yael Dadoun as she shares her home customs and learn about this meaningful tradition by sampling delicious foods, engaging in text and partaking in fruitful conversations. You will bring this ritual home to your families, no doubt!

Deadline to RSVP is September 12 here.

Please join us at Congregation Mishkan Or in worship, learning, and growing together as one vibrant Jewish community:

Shabbat Services are held at Congregation Mishkan Or on Fridays at 6:00pm. They are offered in person and live streamed here.

If you wish clergy to read aloud the name of your loved one for yahrtzeit or a recent death, contact Cyndi Wilson here in advance or ask ushers to assist you to get names to clergy during worship!

Shabbat Morning Torah Study, Saturdays, 9:00am

Rabbi Roger Klein will lead a Shabbat Morning Torah Study Session held in the Hartzmark Room. Join him and fellow Congregation Mishkan Or members and learn together! Offered in person and live streamed.

NEW: Saturday, 10:30am, Shabbat B’yachad (“together”)

We are excited to share that Congregation Mishkan Or will pilot Shabbat B’yachad, a multi-generational Shabbat morning prayer, held most Saturdays.

This is a marvelous “coming together” of all worshipers to enjoy the beauty of Shabbat morning prayers each week and appreciate the mitzvah of hearing a reading from one of our sacred Torah scrolls. Note: worship will not go later than 11:30am.

Tuesday Morning Minyan, 9:15am: We are excited to announce a new opportunity for our community to come together and join in prayer, music, and reflection.  You may be looking to start your weekday with intention, seek comfort in prayer, remember a loved one through the recitation of Kaddish, or seeking to connect with fellow members of our Congregation Mishkan Or community, we hope the Tuesday Morning Minyan will offer a warm and welcoming space for you. The Tuesday minyan will also be live streamed here.
